Biography

Juan Tamargo Menéndez is Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid. He completed his postdoctoral training in the US (at the Upstate and Downstate Medical Center in New York) and at Homburg/Saar University (Germany).

He has obtained the Galien National Research Awards, the Lilly Foundation for Preclinical Biomedical Research and the BBVA Foundation for Scientific Research Teams in Biomedicine (Cardiovascular Area). He has been a member of the Committee for Practice Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology. He is a Full Member of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy and the Royal Academy of Veterinary Sciences. He is also a member of the editorial committee of journals including Hypertension, Spanish Journal of Cardiology, Drug Development Research, Cardiovascular Research, Journal Pharmacological Sciences, Drugs in Context, Recent Patents on Cardiovascular Drug Discovery, Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology, World Journal of Pharmacology, Arrhythmia & Electrophysiology Review, Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy and European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. He is the author of more than 500 articles in national and international journals and the editor of 52 books and monographs.
