Overview

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia which affects more than 7 million people in the USA. 91% of strokes in AF are caused by blood clots that form in the left atrial appendage (LAA).

Oral anticoagulation (OAC) is the standard treatment to reduce the risk, however between 10 to 15% of patients have contraindications to OAC. For these patients, LAAC procedures represent a very good alternative. However, they bring some challenges that can be minimized with the use of some tools and techniques which can reduce complication rates to the maximum.

Dr Marco Spaziano (Interventional cardiologist at McGill University Health Center, Montreal, Canada) worked as a fellow at ICPS Massy in collaboration with Dr Garot, on several LAAC procedures and presents this webinar on LAA closure procedure planning & device positioning with advanced imaging.

Dr Spaziano will share with the audience his experience on LAAC procedures and how the use of Valve ASSIST 2 helped reduce procedure time, contrast media and X-Ray dose.

This webinar is intended to educate interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, echocardiographers, device manufacturers and related healthcare professionals.
