Biography

In April 2001, Professr Tziakas joined the Faculty of the Medical School, Democritus University of Thrace initially as a Lecturer in Cardiology and subsequently as an Assistant Professor. Since May 2011 he has worked as an Associate Professor in Cardiology in the same Faculty (Medical School, Democritus University of Thrace). He has also worked as a Research Fellow in Coronary Artery Disease Research Unit, Cardiological Sciences Department at St George’s University of London, UK.

His specific field of interest is in Acute Cardiac Care, especially the clinical application of the molecular aspects of acute coronary syndromes and acute decompensation of chronic heart failure. Furthermore, he is keenly interested in the clinical appraisal of cardiovascular therapeutics.
