During the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) "Advanced Cardiovascular Intervention (ACI 2018)" meeting in London (24-26th January 2017), Radcliffe Cardiology filmed a roundtable discussion focusing on an area of growing interest amongst the interventional community – Acute Stroke Intervention.

This discussion was moderated by BCIS President Prof. Adrian Banning (Oxford, UK) who was joined by an expert group of physicians including Dr. Marcus Bradley (Bristol, UK), Dr. Iqbal Malik (London,UK), Dr. Helen Routledge (Worcester, UK) and Dr. Andrew Sharp (Exeter, UK).

Adrian P Banning

Adrian P Banning

Dr Adrian Banning is a consultant cardiologist specialising in percutaneous coronary intervention.

He is the president of the British Cardiac Intervention Society and was previously the Divisional Director for Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the John Radcliffe University Hospital, Oxford. Through his position at the John Radcliffe, and his own practice at Oxford’s The Manor Hospital, Prof Banning provides specialist regional services for coronary and valvular heart disease patients to an area of 1.2 million people.

Prof Banning is pioneering research in his field and lectures nationally and internationally. He has authored several books on coronary intervention and has more than 300 PubMed listed scientific papers to his name.

Andrew SP Sharp

Consultant Cardiologist

Prof Andrew Sharp qualified from Edinburgh Medical School in 1998. He conducted his senior clinical training at Imperial College Hospitals and San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, before being appointed in 2011 as a Consultant Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and University of Exeter. Professor Sharp was awarded an MD postgraduate research degree for his work on the hypertensive heart whilst at Imperial College and now leads a growing research programme at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in the fields of hypertension, renal denervation, ischaemic heart disease, intra-coronary imaging, coronary physiology, pulmonary embolus and aortic valve disease.
